THE CRY OF THE HAWK

The war tearing the nation apart and pitting brother against brother had ended. A fragile peace prevailed. Among the survivors, Lieutenant Nathan Everett, assistant surgeon with the 32nd Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, had only one wish; to go home. He longed for the solitude of Willow Creek deep in the Texas wilderness. It would take him months to get there, but his mind and his heart were set. He would make a new life for himself. Nothing was going to stop him.

Fate had a different plan. He didn’t foresee the turn of events that would take him farther from Willow Creek than he could ever imagine. Outside an old tavern in Boston on a stormy afternoon in mid-October, Nathan stepped into a future time and place, changing his life irrevocably forever.
